With the basic installation of Proxmox VE the smtp relay server is not configured.
When making backups it's possible that no logs will be send to you.
By configuring a smtp relay server in Proxmox VE, mail will be send to you.

Installation
- Open the Proxmox "Shell"
By editing the postfix config we can add a smtp relay server.
type: nano /etc/postfix/main.cf
Find "relayhost" in this file and add your smtp relay server after it.
I always fill in the ip address if the smtp relay server.
So no dns server is required or has to be available when mail will be send.
When adding your smtp relay server the line should look like this:
relayhost = x.x.x.x
Press "CTRL+X" to exit.
Press "Y" to save.
